Bandipur National Park is rated as one of the top 10 wildlife sanctuaries in India, if you are looking for a tiger or a elephant sighting it is one of the best places as the park is 875 sq. kms neighboring with Nagarhole National Park 645 sq. kms, Karnataka, Mudumalai National Park 320 sq. kms (Tamil Nadu) & Wayanad wild sanctuary 345 sq. kms. (Kerala)  a total of 2185 sq. kms the largest protected area in south India. Bandipur was once the private game park of the Mysore maharajahs  In 1931, a sanctuary of 90 sq. km was created in the Bandipur Reserve Forest. In 1973, the Bandipur Tiger Reserve was established under Project Tiger in India.

Take a jeep safari to see the flora and fauna Sightings Indian elephants, Indian bison (Gaur), Tigers, sloth bears, Four horned antelopes, Cheetals, greay langurs, Indian giant squirrels, spotted deer, barking deer and sloth bears are in the wildlife sanctuary. If you are lucky you could get to see the  Royal Bengal Tigers.

If  you are bird-watching enthusiast you will have some great sightings, with peacocks strutting around with their brilliant colors there are over 220 species of bird life which has been spotted here, the popular ones are Grey jungle fowl, red headed vultures, honey buzzards, Indian rollers, Brown fish owls, Crested serpent eagles, woodpecker, warbler, weaver bird, Kingfisher, Drongo, fly-catcher, horn bill and others.

Your Camera (if it is digital camera carry rechargeable batteries of Sony they last long and can be recharged over 300 times )  to capture the amazing sights of the jungle & wildlife. Binoculars as you cannot get close to animals all the times, mosquito repellent, your choice of short eats and snacks and prescription medicines are recommended.

To get around the park you can go for a jeep safari or van safari. The Bandipur van safari operates between 6.30-9.00 AM in the mornings and 3.30 -6.00 PM in the evenings and is a 30 minute drive in a 25 seater van. Safaris is the main outdoor activity in Bandipur National Park that you can enjoy.

Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary 12 km away, also a sure place to sight more wildlife mini bus Safaris are orangised by the Forest Department. Safari timings 7.00 am – 9.00 am & 3.00 – 6.30 pm

Ooty is 48 kms one of the popular hill-stations in south India known as the  “Queen of Hill Stations” for its scenic hills picturesque tea plantations and beautiful valleys  a great Hillstation for 2 to 3 days stay there is plenty to see the Lake, the Botanical Gardens, Rose Garden, Dodabetta peak, the Ooty toy train also you have Coonoor with Sim’s park, Dolphin nose and the gardens


Mysore, 80 km is a magnificent Royal city with a rich cultural & historical heritage. Places to see here the Mysore Palace, Mysore zoo, Chamundi Hills, Jagmohan Palace & Brindvan Gardens,
