Nagarhole
National Park located in the southern Indian state of Karnataka, this tiger
reserve is a dense tropical forest and deciduous forest area of 640 sq kms is home
to the elusive and stealthy Royal Bengal Tiger, Nagarhole National Park is part
of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve Bandipur, Madhumalai & Wayanad sanctuaries.
The Kabini river lies to its south the main waterways for the park.

to over 60 Tigers which is one of the best in the world, also a stronghold of
the Asiatic elephants about 1500 to 2000 elephants inhabit the Nagarhole National Park and
Brahmagiri wildlife sanctuary which is in Kodagu, the area is home to Bende
tree whose bark is a favorite for elephants. The park has an abundance of wildlife
leopards, deer, dhol (wild dog), flying foxes, jackals, flying squirrels common
langurs and over 250 species of bird life.

which costs around Rs. 1000 for 3 hours from the Forest Department. You can see
lots of elephants near the river. The Tiger and leopard are much more elusive,
while Sloth Bear, Gaur (Indian bison), Antelope, Sambar, and a number of
monkeys live here. Nagarhole has over 250 species of birdlife commonly sighted are
Grey-headed Fish Eagle, Crested Serpent Eagle, Changeable Hawk Eagle, Shikra, Black Kite and Brahminy Kite
The
best time to see wildlife is take the early morning Jeep Safari, all safaris
are conducted by trained naturalist and experienced drivers who know the
terrain and the biodiversity of the parks, morning your chances of wildlife
sightings are more as the jungle wakes up you can see a wide variety of bird
life, Elephants, barking deer a chance sighting of a leopard or tiger is
possible more in the summer months.
